A date with Christy in Macroom
THE Briery Gap in Macroom will play host to the legendary Christy Moore on two consecutive nights from Tuesday, August 17.
The mid-Cork venue is delighted to announce the return of the Kildare singer/songwriter for an intimate and unique solo summer concert.
The two performances promise to be magical evenings of song and stories with no support and no interval; just Moore and his audience.
Christy Moore is a popular Irish folk singer, songwriter and guitarist and was also one of the founding members of Planxty.
Moore was born in Newbridge and was originally a bank employee who wanted to express himself using traditional music. His solo style includes driving rhythms on guitar and bodhran, as well as slower ballads.
In 2007, Moore was named as Ireland's greatest living musician in RTE's People of the Year Awards. In June of the same year, Moore was a guest on Desert Island Discs, a BBC programme that is often considered an accolade.
Moore released his first new studio album in four years in 2009, titled Listen, which was promoted through a series of live gigs.
Tickets are currently for sale at a price of €40, and will be strictly on a first come, first serve basis. Doors open at 7pm, with the concert beginning at 8pm sharp; and there will be no admission after the concert has commenced.
