Eclectic line-up in store for this year's Cork folk festival

AN eclectic line up of Irish and international acts has been lined up to play the 31st Beamish Cork Folk Festival which will run from Thursday, September 30 to Sunday, October 3.
The festival will see more almost 50 acts playing gigs in more than 25 venues across Cork city, featuring more than 300 musicians and thousands of dancers.
One of the undoubted highlights of this year's festival will be a gig by Sharon Shannon and her Big Band with the legendary Shane McGowan at the Savoy Theatre on Friday, October 1.
Other notable gigs include an evening in the company of The Alan Kelly Quartet featuring Eddi Reader in the Pavilion on Sunday, October 3, a gig by The Imagined Village at the Savoy on Saturday, October 3 and concerts by a range of artists including Ger Wolfe, Gemma Hayes, Sarakina, Iarla Leonard and Beoga.
Another event worthy of mention will be the annual Ceili Mor on the Grand Parade at 2pm on the Sunday afternoon featuring music from the Kilfinora Ceili Band, set dancing, a food market and children's entertainment.
This year will also see the return of the popular music trail which will see free gigs taking place in almost 20 pubs and bars across the city during the duration of the festival.
