Eclectic line-up of events for Timoleague festival

The Star Search Final will take place on Tuesday, August 17 at 8pm, again in the festival dome. Since its creation, this competition has captured the imagination of both contestants and audiences alike, with a first prize of €1,000. Tickets are €15 for adults and €10 for children, with tickets available from most local shops or by ringing 086-8336315.

Na Fianna kick off this year's free street concerts on Wednesday, August 18. These talented Kilkenny balladeers, who were second in the 2009 All Ireland Talent competition, have been winning over audiences since their formation three years ago. These open air free concerts have been a big part of the festival for many years, and this year should prove to be no exception.

Mary Black will play the festival dome on Thursday, August 19 at 8pm and needs very little introduction. An internationally renowned contemporary and folk singer, Mary is one of the biggest names to play the festival. Tickets are €30 and are only available through prebooking.

Fred will thrill audiences at the dome on Saturday, August 21 from 11pm. The five-piece pop band have played at both Oxegen and Electric Picnic, and are the most exciting band to come out of Ireland in a long time. Tickets are €20 and pre-booking is available.

The Kilkenny's will conclude the festival on Sunday, August 22 from 11pm. Formerly known as Uisce Beatha, the band have successfully reintroduced Irish folk and ballads to a young audience while also winning the hearts of the more seasoned traditional music lovers. Tickets are €12 and will be available on the door.
