BITTERSWEET – Expressions of Love and Hate, described as an exhibition of contemporary Irish and international artists, will be on display at Macroom Town Hall until Saturday, August 21.
Bittersweet, co-curated by Sandra Minchin and Peggy Sue Amison, is an exhibition of works that present expressions of love and hate.
It aims to illustrate the pleasure and discomfort of intimacy, unveiling a combination of beauty and tension in an attempt to visually interpret the emotional landscape of a challenging existence.
The exhibition features works of more than 20 Irish and international artist is featuring an eclectic mix of the media, from painting to sculpture, and photography to video.
Some of the Irish artists that are featured in the exhibition are Kevin Callaghan, Breda Lynch, Kieran Moore, Harry Moore, Dan Murphy, Ailbhe Ni Bhriain and many more.
Bittersweet premiered at the Doswell Gallery in Rosscarbery in February. Since then the exhibition has expanded and now features a host of new artists.
Bittersweet is presented in partnership with Cork County Council, Macroom Town Council, Sirius Arts Centre and Cork Film Centre.
Sandra Minchin is a Cork based visual artist and curator. She has a reputation for taking radical departures in installation, performance and photography. Sandra's work has also been exhibited internationally.
Peggy Sue Amison is the artistic director of the Sirius Arts Centre in Cobh and has been curating contemporary visual arts exhibitions since 2001. A fine art photographer, Peggy's work has been exhibited in Ireland, the United States and other parts of Europe.
The gallery is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 5pm, and is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
