Police parade their musical talents
POLICEMEN from both sides of the Atlantic are set to come together for a gala concert in Cork to raise money for children with cancer.
Cops for Kids with Cancer is a unique collaboration between police officers from Boston and Ireland in order to raise money for the treatment of young people with the disease.
The concert, on Friday, September 10, will feature the Cork Garda Choir the Army 4th Infantry Battalion Pipe Band and the Band of An Garda Siochána. The programme will also include performances by special guests soprano Fiona Murphy and tenor Anthony Kearns. The MC for the evening will be former garda Pashcal Scott, who many will know as Sergeant Dick from the RTE TV series Kilinascully.
Cops for Kids with Cancer was founded over 11-years ago by Garda Pat Hanlon and Captain John Dow of the Boston Police Department. This year's concert sees funds going to Brú Columbanus, the Cork-based charity. Tickets at €25 and are available from Pro Musica on Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork on 021 4271659.
