Sweeney Todd in Everyman Theatre

THE Cork Operatic Society is set to host its own production of Stephen Sondheim's chilling opera Sweeney Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet St at Cork's Everyman Palace next month.
The show, which will run for four nights from August 5, will feature West End and Riverdance star Michael Sands in the lead role, Dierdre Bashford as Mrs Lovett and a guest performance by internationally acclaimed corkborn soprano Cara O'Sullivan.
Based on a true story the show tells the story of Sweeney Todd, a barber who operated in the Fleet Street area of London during the mid 1800s. It charts Todd's descent into madness as he extracts his revenge on humanity, killing clients and sending their corpses into his cellar.
