A GREAT night of music, dance and charitable spirit surfaced at the fancy dress disco hosted by Aubane Social Club in the Wallis Arms Hotel, Millstreet on Friday.

Revellers found the venue transformed into a party crypt populated with well known characters from Lady Gaga to Dracula to Superman. And the break up of heartthrobs Westlife prompted a quintet of Kiskeam fans get on the topical theme.

The disco helped raise funds for the COPE Foundation, which caters for 1600 children and adults with intellectual disability through its systems of early intervention, schooling, training, adult day services , supported employment, housing, information and advice at 60 locations throughout Cork city and county.

Aubane Social Club Chairperson Martina Sheehan applauded everybody who made the disco such a great success.

"It was a brilliant atmosphere and thanks to everybody that attended particularly well done to those who donned costumes in the spirit of the occasion," she said.

"What a night. Everybody made such a marvelous effort and it really added to the occasion. The turn out for the hosting was excellent, and absolutely everyone was in such superb fancy dress, it was a brilliant night and we can't wait to organise the next staging" she said.

Prizes added to the party mood, with Sandra and Seán Healy from Kilcorney portraying The Smurfs popular as were Robocop and Cheerleader Conor and Lavinia Sheahan. And three little piggies from Kiskeam, namely Martina Daly, Anne Marie O'leary and Pauline O'connor gained an accolade for their disguises.
