AROUND MALLOW Talent competition final

THE very entertaining annual Mallow's Got Talent competition comes to a close on Saturday night at Fitzy's Bar with the grand final kicking off at 9.30pm. Over the last few weeks several hopefuls took to the stage to belt out their skills and on Saturday it is down to the last 15 who will perform for a top position in 2009. The winner will receive €500 second €200 and third €100 with other momentoes also being presented on the night.

Guest judges will make the final decision on the night and the event is co-presented by Johnny ' Bottles' Griffin and Jimmy Mahony. The finalists are Linda Glassett, Bridget Campion, Siobhan Lynch, Tony Sheehan, Timmy Flynn, Katie Conlon, Damien Murphy, Tanya Relihan, Donie Buckley,Cora Mahony, Brian Relihan, Sarah Doyle, Micjael Davitt, Maureen Barrow and Maeve O'Leary. Congratulations to David Sheehan of Sheehan's Family Butchers and his wife Gina, Mountnagle, on the birth of a baby boy, Sam at CUMH a — new baby brother for Kate, Grace and Ruby. Congratulations folks.

MALLOW ICA: The Mallow ICA will hold their next meeting on Monday, December 7 at the Social Services Centre at 8pm and Christmas flower arranging will take place on the night. All are welcome. KNOCK NIGHT VIGIL: In conjunction with the Knock Night Vigil on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception a coach will depart from the Church of the Resurrection on Monday, December 7 at 2.30 pm and will return on Tuesday, December 8 with arrival in Mallow at 9.30 am. PIONEERS: The monthly meeting of the Mallow Pioneer Association will be held in the Parish Centre on Friday December 11 at 8pm. New Members welcome.

LIGHTBULB YOUTH THEATRE AGM: Lightbulb Youth Theatre will hold their AGM on tonight Thursday, December 3 at 8pm in the meeting room at Le Cheile Family Resource Centre in Mallow. All are welcome to attend.

GAA LOTTO: Wheelspinner Patricia O'Callaghan, Dromsligo won €75 in the Mallow GAA Weekly Members Lotto draw which was held in Carrigoon on Tuesday November 24. The €30 lucky dip winners were Tadgh O'Riordan c/o Medi Centre, Liz O'Brien, Ballyclough c/o Anne O'Neill, G.Morgan c/o Club Bar and Sean Thompson c/o Anne O'Neill. The numbers drawn were 2 - 6 - 11 - 22. The jackpot is currently at €5,900. Spinning the wheel on Tuesday, December 1 was Chris Mullane, 2 Woodview Drive c/o W. O'Connor.

CHRISTMAS FAIR: Baltydaniel National School Christmas Fair will be held on Sunday, December 6 at 2pm in the school. Christmas crafts, home baking, carol singing, raffle and a special guest appearance by Santa Claus is all part of the days celebrations. Your support will be greatly appreciated and all are welcome.

VANBRUGH QUARTET: Virtuoso pianist Peter Donohoe joins the RTE Vanbrugh Quartet in St. James' Church on Friday, December 4 at 8pm. The performance will include Taneyev's Piano Quintet, Haydn's 'Rider' plus a collection of short Russian pieces including a mazurka, a sarabande and a polka. Tickets are available at the door and are priced at €15 and €12 (concessions).
