Cheques will help fight malnutrition

MR EAMONN MOYNIHAN, Banteer recently presented Fr John Keane, a missionary priest from Youghal who collects funds for malnourished children in Liberia, West Africa and Ecuador in South America, with a cheque for €3,000, the proceeds of two fundraising events.

The first was in Tubrid Well, Millstreet — thanks to James O'sullivan for his kind permission — and the second was in Banteer Community Centre.

Thanks to the committee who gave the hall free of charge for the day of prayer. Thanks to the workers who worked without pay for the afternoon. Thanks to the parish priests of Millstreet and Banteer for allowing the events to go ahead.

Also at Carolines Bar the AGM of the Caroline's Social Bowling Club was held. Elected were President John Healy, Chairman Mick Mullane, Hon-secretary Bernie Long, Treasures Jimmy Collins and Frankie Kelleher, PRO John Healy.

Results: Kilcorney — Denis Hickey, Rathmore and Gerard Kelleher, Banteer won a score off each other for the last shot on both occasions (€1,600 and €2,000). SYMPATHY: The death occurred recently of Tedna Buckley of Blackstone Bridge, Cork City one of the great characters of bowling. He came from a family steeped in the sport of road bowling. Popular with everyone he came in contact with, he was known the length and breath of the country. To his wife Nellie and family and wide circle of friends sincerest sympathies.
