IMPORTANT MEETING: A meeting will take place in the Kilcorney Community Centre on Thursday October 20 at 8pm to discuss the recent spate of robberies which took place in our local community recently.
A representative from An Garda Siochana will be present.
It would be appreciated if a representative from each household would attend this important meeting. BOWLING NOTES: Tommy O Donoghue Bweeng won the Sally's Cross Novice Final at the expense of Tadhg Hunter, Doneraile.
It was O Donoghue who shaded the early exchanges. Little separated the players to the Mart Farm House.
The Bweeng man made his move here to rise a bowl of odds. He dominated after this to take the title by three bowles of odds.
In a return score, Denis Hickey, Rathmore beat O Donoghue for the last shot. Presentations were made afterwards to both finalists with semi-finalists, Finbarr O Rirodan, Sallyís Cross and Bobby Healy, Mallow also receiving their prizes.
A special presentation was made to Danny Murphy, Kilcorney for all his trojan work during the year. THE DEATH OCCURRED RECENTLY: of Paddy Spillane, Aghabullogue. Well known in Bowling Circles, he was a prominent novice and junior player in the 1970s and 1980s.
He played his championship scores with the North Cork Region and played various tournaments locally. In later years he followed his son Pat, a well known junior player.
The bowling fraternity would like to take this opportunity to express their deepest sympathy to his family, neighbours and good friends.
Sincere sympathy is extended to the following: to the family of Ita Barry, Coolroemore, Lyre, Banteer, to the family of Paddy O Flynn Killavoy, Banteer, to the family of Tom Leonard, Railway View, Banteer. May their souls rest in peace.
