TRANSITION FROM SECONDARY TO THIRD LEVEL: IRD Duhallow's Youth and Education Working Group will host an information night entitled ' The Transition from Secondary to Third Level' on Wednesday, September 15 at 7.30pm in The James O'Keeffe Institute, Newmarket.
This information night will be facilitated by Roisín Kelleher who is a distinguished Careers Counsellor and will address issues such as CAO application, social interaction/fitting in, study techniques and appropriate subject choice for students entering leaving-cert in 2010/2011.
This presentation will be very beneficial to teachers, parents and all senior cycle students - all are encouraged to attend. Admission to this event is free and refreshments will be served on the night.

BANTEER/LYRE DEFIBRILLATOR SUPPORT GROUP: Are you interested in completing a course to get trained up in basic CPR and how to use a defibrillator?
There are currently 25 people trained to use the defibrillators in the community. The more people that have the training completed and are aware of the defibrillator locations the better chance of it being put to good use in the event of an emergency. The aim would be to have the courses on one evening per week over two-three weeks, the courses will be arranged based on numbers that apply. If you are interested in completing this training, please contact Patrick Buckley on 0872306907 to register your interest. BANTEER COMMUNITY CENTRE: The AGM of Community Centre is coming up - could clubs that have still not paid for the 2009/10 season please do so this week. Bookings now being taken for the 2010-2011 season. All existing clubs must contact Eleanor on 086-8241425 to confirm their hours for this year as new bookings are currently being taken. A list of the hours confirmed will shortly be displayed in the Community Centre. Any hours outside of these will be allotted to the new clubs on a first come, first served basis. Clubs must organise their own insurance and provide a copy to the committee.

IRISH DANCING CLASSES for children will commence every Saturday from September 4 from 10am–11.30am in Banteer Community Centre. Classes for children over the age of five figure/set dancing. GAA: The Cork senior football team will train tonight (Thursday night) at 6.30pm in Páirc Uí Chaoimh. These training sessions are open to the public and anyone wishing to go along to take pictures, obtain autographs and watch the lads in action before the All-Ireland final against Down are more than welcome to attend. BANTEER/LYRE GAA: Banteer hurlers lost to Kilbrin in the semi final of the hurling in Kanturk last weekend. In an extremely one sided game, Banteer can't complain that the better team won on the day.
Focus will now switch to the Junior B campaign for hurling interest for the rest of the year.
Members are reminded that orders are now being taken for tickets for the All-Ireland Football final.
Connie Tarrant is the man with the tickets, so orders can be given to him or indeed any club officer. Patrons are reminded to get the orders in early.
You will also get a chance to win two tickets as Banteer/Lyre GAA club have decided to raffle two tickets. Details of this next week.
