KANTURK CALLING: Seasonal flavour at Cullen Christmas party
Thursday December 17 2009
A SEASONAL atmosphere hung over the Cullen and District Special Needs Association Annual Christmas Mass and Party which took place at Cullen Community Centre last Saturday.
The 29th staging retained its popular menu in a programme that rose the temperatures of the impressive gathering from across North Cork and East Kerry.
Proceedings opened with Mass celebrated by Canon Declan O'Connor. Thereafter food and refreshments were served by a willing group of volunteers drawn from the organising group. DJ Andrew Lynch helped generate a brillant atmosphere with the dance floor full with the young and the young at heart.
Organising Chairman Dr Patrick Casey thanked everybody for coming out in big numbers and expressed a big thank you to those working behind the scenes.
A Christmas gift was appreciated by those present to confirm another hugely successful hosting by the vibrant Cullen and District Special Needs Association.
Association spokesperson Myra O'Keeffe extends the compliments of the season to friends and associates. Their Annual Weigh In is up and running on Monday, January 18 in Cullen Community Centre at 8pm with weekly exercises and dancing continuing over ten weeks.
The traditional staging offers substantial financial aid to a grouping currently in the throes of initiating an ambitious Project in Cullen to build a facility and shelter for those with special requirements.
