DEATH: The death occurred recently in London of Con Connors, Ballinagree. Con came from a well known bowling family. His father Mick was a senior player as was his brothers, Jim Dan and Bill, who played a lot of scores around North Cork and beyond.
On March 17, 1954 he won the Macroom Senior Bowling Tournament final at Masseytown. He defeated Kirby Connors and Pat McCarthy (Ballinagree) to take the Murphy Cup.
Con was first president of Bol Chumann London in 1969. He was at the forefront in the late sixties and seventies and was part of a special group that included Barney and Willie Jennings and Pat Kiely.
Huge crowds attended Con's funeral at Paddington Cemetery. He was known far and wide and was especially generous to new arrivals often providing work, and accommodation when required.
At his Funeral Mass Mr Tim Lynch, Drimoleague delivered a poignant tribute to Con.
Among those in attendance were many of the present London Fraternity including Eddie O'Mahony (Waterfall), Tim Kelleher ( Ballinagree), Dan Joe McCarthy (Drimoleague), Fred O'Regan (Milltown) and Pat Murray Renascreena.
To his family and many friends the Bowling Fraternity would like to take this opportunity to extend their deepest sympathy. May he rest in peace. October 24. Winning Numbers 2, 11, 20 and 23 and the Jackpot of €3,300 was not won.
