CORK TEAMS: Last weekend was a red letter day for the Club. On Saturday Oliver O'Hanlon was a member of the Cork Junior Football Panel who were victors over Roscommon in the All Ireland Junior Football Final.

Our man Ray Carey lined out Corner Back and acquitted himself brilliantly.

LADIES FOOTBALL CLUB: Saturday last was a proud day for Mourneabbey Ladies Football Club. The Cork Senior B Ladies Football team won the All-Ireland Final against Dublin, in Thurles, bringing the Aisling McGing Cup back to Leeside for the third year in succession.

Mourneabbey had four players on the Cork winning panel Cathy Ann Stack, Catherine Coakley, Tricia Murphy and Eimear Harrington. All four girls have won All-Ireland medals with Cork at under-age. It is very gratifying to see these players progress to senior ranks and perform with distinction on the big stage. After a fantastic team performance Cork emerged victorious on a scoreline of 3-11 to 0-6. Heartiest congratulations to Cathy Ann, Catherine, Tricia and Eimear.

Later on Saturday afternoon loyal supporters headed from Thurles to Nolan Park, Kilkenny when the Cork Senior A side took on the challenge of Kildare in the All-Ireland quarter-final. On this panel the Mourneabbey club is represented by Síle O' Callaghan, Roísín O' Sullivan and Ciara O' Sullivan. This encounter turned out to be totally one-sided with Cork excelling all over the field from start to finish. At the final whistle the scoreboard read 4-23 to 0-6 in favour of the AllIreland champions. Well done to Síle, Roísín and Ciara and best of luck next week-end when the Rebelettes face Mayo in the AllIreland semi-final.

JUVENILE GAA: Clyda u12 hurlers played Kilworth in the Championship semi final in Castletownroche last Monday evening.

Clyda started the game well, and for a share of the first half managed to stay level with or very close to Kilworth score wise. Kilworth however upped their game in the last quarter of the half and with a few lucky goals had an eight point margin at half time.

Clyda continued to fight in the second half, with full back Ronan Flanagan, as always defending so well and goalie Mark O'Sullivan pulling off a few fine saves. It was not to be our night, though and Kilworth ran out deserving winners. A lot of hard work has been put into the u12 training all along, and a special mention must go to the trainers and players alike for this.
