Town prepares for exciting parade

PARADE: Buttevant with all other Irish communities worldwide will celebrate the feast of St Patrick Wednesday March 17.
Participants are asked to assemble at Barrack Place at 10am, the parade commences at 10.30am. The parade will proceed through Military Road to Main Street, St. Mary's Church where a viewing stand will be in place. Shamrock will be blessed and distributed to people from all local organisations. Following the parade a bi-lingual mass will be celebrated. All local groups, clubs and organisations are cordially invited to attend. There will be prizes for the best turned out individuals and groups.
BINGO: Continues Monday nights in the GAA hall. There are numerous monetary prizes. Next week's jackpot will be €1,350 and €320 in-house lottery. Prizewinners in the GAA club Development Draw for February were Aidan O'Connor (€1000); Jerry Barrett (€300) and John Joe Murphy, St. Colman Place (€200). Next draw March 29 at regular bingo session.
HERITAGE: Buttevant Heritage Group will launch a study recently undertaken on the town and its environs on Monday March 15 in the Community Council Hall at 8pm.
ENROLMENT: Parents/Guardians of children eligible for primary education are advised that enrolment for Scoil Mhuire na Trocaire Primary School is now available.
Application forms can be obtained from the community playgroup and Montessori centre or directly from the school 022-23506. Completed forms should be returned to the school on or before April 16. Children must be four years of age to secure a place for the school year 2010/2011.
PILGRIMAGE: The annual pilgrimage to Lourdes will be from June 26 to July 1. It includes five nights and six days. Local curate Fr. Joe E Mahony CC will be the spiritual director.
