COURSING: A Millstreet dog went in search of prestigious honours in Clonmel this week with the participation of Cleanaway Smurf in the Hotel Minella National Greyhound Oaks.

Under the watchful eye of Donal G O'Mahony, Becky impressed in her performances this season and was considered as amongst the leading contenders for outright honours and the €35,000 prizemoney.

A winner in the pre-qualifying stakes on home soil in Millstreet on New Year's Eve, Becky performed the business though Clonmel is very much the mecca for all coursing enthusiasts with the action sure to be hugely competitive this week.

Last season, Cleanaway Smurf owned by Con O'Connor delivered a competent performance and reached the concluding stages of the competition.
