Amazing for Grace as she slips into a Karen Millen
A VERY happy Castletownroche postmistress has every reason to grin as this week she got back into a size 12 Karen Millen dress and is now down to her target weight on the hit TV series Operation Transformation.
Grace Batterberry had shin splits last week, so instead of taking to the road as part of her debut on Operation Transformation, she went swimming instead. Last week, Grace weighted 12 stone and one and a half pounds. Her target for the week was to lose the healthy and recommended two pounds, but Grace's determination and new healthy living meant she shed 2 and a half pounds. She is now down to 11 stone and three pounds - which is now her target weight loss for the entire series.
Viewers over the last number of weeks, have really been taken by the 32 year-old woman's sheer honestly and great humour. Her biggest battle has been the cigarettes, but she told The Corkman that while the cravings have not totally gone away, she is determined not to go back to her 20 a day habit.
She recently had a girlie night with her friends and she was worried that she might be tempted to have a cigarette - but thankfully she resisted. In order to give a helping hand to his daughter, her dad, John has also lost two and a half stone and has also kicked the cigarettes.
Grace has also made a huge impression on the Irish Cancer Society who have now asked her to launch their new 'Quit' campaign which is aimed at women aged 16 to 35 years.
A very humble Grace told The Corkman that she is absolutely delighted to have been asked to take part. She said she got a lovely letter from the Irish Cancer Society who said that she has proven herself to be an inspiration to other young women who want to quit cigarettes.
On Monday, Grace will go to Dublin to launch the new campaign. "The letter and now this new launch has also been a great boost to me and to keep going," she said.
With a giggle she said on Wednesday morning that she was "spoilt rotten" by the two men in her life, her partner William and son Brody for Valentine's Day. She went out on Tuesday night for a lovely meal but said that she made "wise choices."
