THIS Friday there will be a public consultation on the proposed alterations to the pay parking zones in Mallow.

Drawings and schedules will be available for inspection at the town hall. There are plans to introduce pay parking at the new car park on the Spa and extend pay parking zone at Spa Walk.

Other proposals include extending the pay parking zone at Market Place and Short Castle and the 'regularisation' of two hour parking on Lower Bathview/ Plunkett terrace.

There are also plans to introduce two hour parking on Emmet Street and Beecher St. There are also plans to remove parking between Humes Lane and Emmet Street on West End.

Members of the public can inspect the plans at the town hall this Friday and make their own submissions to the town council.

Meanwhile, Two pay and display parking machines remain to be installed at Shortcastle St. These will be installed when the footpath refurbishment works are complete.

The new parking plans were revealed at this week's town council meeting in town engineer Keith Jones' report to the members.

Mr Jones also revealed that Lagan Asphalt will be working in Mallow town on Tuesday and Wednesday nights on behalf of Cork County Council. 'Hot Patching' repairs will be carried out on the national and regional road network around the town centre and Mallow bridge.
