Petrol station boarded up
THE town council is set to issue a derelict sites notice on the former petrol station/shop in the Spa area of Mallow, according to town clerk Liz Donovan.
The premises, which closed down just over a year ago, had recently become a target for vandals who smashed some of its windows.
Council staff this week boarded up the premises at the request of gardai in a bid to prevent any further damage being done to the building.
A nearby building had also been vandalised in recent weeks.
Ms Donovan said the council intends to issue the derelict sites notice to the current owner of the building, believed to be Bank of Ireland Finance, over the coming weeks.
