Snooker aces to meet over green baize in Fermoy
Thursday February 04 2010
TWO of the greatest players to ever grace the international snooker scene are set to meet over the green baize in Fermoy.
Fully 25-years after the famous 'black ball' decider for the world snooker crown, Steve Davis and Denis Taylor will go head to head in an exhibition match at the SG1 complex in the town.
The event, a fundraiser for the Rathcormac based Bride Rovers GAA club, will take place from 8pm on Monday, February 22.
While the exhibition match in Fermoy is unlikely to produce the nail-biting drama of the 1985 final, it will present snooker fans with a wonderful opportunity to watch two of the games greatest players in action.
The night will feature a game between both players, as well as challenge matches between them and a number of local players.
Tickets for the night cost €20, with a special VIP package also available at €50.
Those opting for the VIP package will have access to a pre-exhibition reception with the players, front row seats and a souvenir programme.
Tickets are available from SG1 on 025 34138 and Michael Carey on 087 9808973.
