Tell us we won't lose beds at Millstreet hospital
A chara, Last November thousands of people took to the streets to oppose the proposed closure of the 28 bed Abbeyleix Community Hospital. Subsequently the residents won a reprive in the High Court forcing the HSE to quash the proposed closure in order that proper consultations could be carried out.
I'm delighted to see that the government have listened to the voice of the people and stated that Millstreet Hospital "will not be closing this year", as announced by Áine Collins TD in her recent press release.
It is clear now that people power is the only guarantee that these proposed closures can be halted. We, in Sinn Féin, will lend our total support to communities across Cork North West who are willing to stand up for themselves against these heartless and unjust proposals.
I call upon deputy Áine Collins to reassure the people of Millstreet and surrounding areas that the number of beds in their hospital will not be touched. Mike Healy, Chairman, Duhallow Martyrs Sinn Féin
