Worthy way to lose your neglected shoes

IT is the curse of many a woman - the genetic tendency to reach for the wallet to buy more shoes. And considering that one in five women owns 30-40 pairs shows just how much the ladies love everything about footwear.

However, just over 44% admitted to never wearing even one quarter of them.

Women who like to gather up shoes but for some reason not wear them can now donate these to one of the five National Council for the Blind Ireland (NCBI) shops in Cork.

The ladies can also get a free foot scan at participating outlets which will show just how much damage the ladies have caused their tootsies from years of heels.

This new venture between NCBI and Aetrex Worldwide inc, casual comfort footwear manufacturer, will create much-needed quality stock for NCBI'S 68 charity shops. And will help over 1,600 people in County Cork.

"While they may not see any value in these shoes, NCBI certainly does," Des Kenny, Chief Executive of NCBI said.
