Thursday March 11 2010

CLYDA Rovers had nine points to spare over Killavullen in the Kelleher Shield Section three at Killavullen on Sunday. The winners were quick of the mark and early points by Declan Roche, Conor O'Sullivan were followed by a great goal by Coleman Lane. Killavullen pointed through Billy Norris.

Clyda again did well and a point by Fionn O'Shea following a good solo run made it 1-3 to 0-1 after 10 minutes. Killavullen replied through Alan O'Driscoll and Billy Norris but it was Clyda Rovers who defended very well with Ray Carey outstanding. Regular pressure by Killavullen saw them add a few points but it was Clyda who held an interval lead 1-6 to 0-5.

On the resumption Clyda had three early points but Killavullen made a great fightback with Liam Dorgan, Daniel Luddy and Colm O'Connell reducing the lead to four points by the end of the third quarter 1-9 to 0-8.

Rovers took control in the last 10 minutes adding a goal through Dylan O'Shea after great work by Coleman Lane, Conor O'Sullivan and Niall O'Mullane. Late points by Ken O'Connell and Fionn O'Shea made it decisive in the end.
