Dinan point secures Mallow equality with Kiskeam
COUNTY FOOTBALL LEAGUE: DIVISION 2 Kiskeam 1-9 Mallow 1-9
Thursday March 11 2010
A PRECIOUS equalising pointed free deep into injury time from Noel Dinan secured Mallow a share of the spoils with Kiskeam in an exciting County Football League Division 2 encounter at Kiskeam on Sunday.
The stalemate emerged a fair reflection of a game that generated honest endeavour and a fair result at the end of the hour.
Kiskeam looked the more accomplished side early on, confirmed from points to Niall Cronin and Dave O'Leary. Though Dinan opened Mallow's account, Kiskeam proceeded to control matters on the solid contributions of Padraig Cronin, A J O'Connor, David Healy and Mike Herlihy.
Points flowed with regularity and white flags from O'Leary, Cronin and Herlihy surged Kiskeam ahead 0-7 to 0-1 ahead.
Mallow dragged themselves back into contention thanks to the accuracy of Dinan and cut the leeway 0-8 to 0-4 at the break. Backed by the breeze for the resumption, Mallow resumed in a positive mode, prompted by the telling contributions of Kevin O'Halloran, Eoin Staunton, Hurl Dockery and Dinan.
Points from Dinan and Mark Roche brought Mallow into contention. Kiskeam provided a response courtesy of duplicate points to O'Leary and Daniel Fitzgerald. Mallow refused to wilt without a comeback and the visitors were right back into the hunt after Kevin McCarthy's delivery found Dockery to find the net and force parity.
Both sides strove for a matchwinner, Kiskeam edging ahead from an O'Leary pointed free. Mallow weren't returning home empty hand and Dinan's late converted free squared matters.
