Duhallow set to confirm league set up for 2012

THE first Duhallow Junior Board meeting for 2012 dwelled on a report generated from a Development Football Committee. A full Ducon Cup ( JAFL) programme is envisaged, with all games played by the end of May. The top three sides will qualify for the semifinals, while 4th and 5th placed teams will contest the quarter final.

Its proposed the JAFC reverts to a previous format where Round 2 will comprise of losing first round teams. A commencement date for the championship will be recommended by the CCC. The Duhallow Cup will be retained for 2012.

Provisional groupings for league are drawn up, clubs to review to allow the Board plan a fixtures programme. DUCON CUP (JAFL): Boherbue, Castlemagner, Cullen, Dromtariffe, Kilbrin, Kiskeam, Knocknagree, Lyre, Millstreet, Newmarket, Rockchapel. JBFL Group 1: Ballydesmond, Boherbue, Cullen, Dromtariffe, Glenlara, Knocknagree, Lyre, Millstreet, Rockchapel, St

JBFL Group 2: JAHL: Banteer, Freemount, Kilbrin, Kilgarvan, Meelin, Millstreet, Newmarket, Tullylease, Kilgarvan(tbc) JBHL: Banteer, Castlemagner, Dromtariffe, Freemount, Kanturk, Kilbrin, Lismire, Newmarket, Tullylease.

Clubs are also to inform the Board of entries into revalent championships. A Board meeting on Monday next will hear considerations from a Hurling Development Committee.

The Junior Board hopes to organise a number of Courses / Workshops. In relation to the Foundation Course, it will be run in Duhallow if sufficient numbers are available with a minimum of 16 required and a ceiling of 26 maximum.

Elsewhere, a Youth and Adult Hurling Course operates in Davis College Mallow over seven nights from Tuesday, January 31 between 7-9.30pm.

A Foundation Award Coaching Course will take place on Friday, February 3 (7-9pm) and Saturday, February 4 (9:30am2pm). Cost is € 20 per person. Places will be limited, to book please contact Runaí, Steven Lynch.

Coaching Workshops with underage players operates during the midterm break on Tuesday/wednesday February 14/ 15 ( Football) and Thursday/ Friday Feb 16/ 17 ( Hurling)

The Duhallow Senior Scór Final goes ahead in Kanturk Golf Club on Friday, January 27 commencing at 8.30pm.
