First half push gathers Kanturk win over Dromtariffe

DUHALLOW MINOR B FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP: QUARTER FINAL Kanturk 2-12 Dromtariffe 2-7 KANTURK ground out a worthy win over Dromtariffe in the Duhallow MBFC B quarter final hosted in Dromtariffe. Simply Kanturk clicked into gear in the opening half, that dominance the catalyst for victory. Indeed Kanturk were assured and throughout the field, engineering the time and space to dictate the pace of the opening 30 minutes.
In fairness, Dromtariffe offered plenty mettle and resilient qualities to close a nine point interval deficit yet they were unable to do so and it allowed Kanturk move into a semi final meeting against Croke Rovers.
Kanturk controlled the opening half and availed of solid work from Shane Walsh, John Browne, Ian Walsh, Ronan O'Sullivan and Lorcan O'Neill to dictate matters. That supremacy was confirmed from goals netted by Peter McNamara and O'Sullivan to steer ahead 2-5 to 0-2 at the break.
Dromtariffe offered a comeback upon the resumption, rallying strongly on the key play of Seán O'Callaghan, Pete McCabe and Aaron O'Halloran. Goals from Dan Drake and Darren O'Connor offered encouragement yet the mountain was all too steep to conquer as Kanturk held enough in reserve to advance to the penultimate stage.
