MILLSTREET produced the firepower to ward off Newmarket in an entertaining Coiste Óg North Cork U16 A Football League Final on a staging in Kiskeam.
As the game developed in difficult conditions, Millstreet offered the greater teamwork and understanding. Millstreet raced into the lead from a Daire Hickey goal. Newmarket showed steady improvement with Donal Hannon , Barry O'Connor and Daniel Cullouty to the fore. And a goal from Cullouty confirmed Newmarket's belief and conviction.
The side's traded addition goals from Tomás Sheehan and O'Connor for Millstreet to lead 2-4 to 2-2. However the momentum and the fluency was gradually seeping Millstreet's way on the composed play of Cathal Crowley, Beircheart O'Connor, Paul Sheehan and Donagh Murphy.
Crowley pounced for goal number three to confirm Millstreet's growing dominance. Newmarket replied with back to back points to O'Connor but Millstreet put the issue beyond doubt with Crowley on target.
