President of the GAA to launch book on Ballyhea GAA club

THE President of the GAA Christy Cooney will launch Ballyhea GAA Club's new book, 'Keeping the Flame Aglow' which is an account of the last 25 years of the club from 1985 to 2009, at the Corbett Court on Saturday, March 27. The book has been compiled by the club's History Committee, the members of which are, Charlie Quinn, John Quinn, John Mortell, Danny Casey, Joe Walsh, Jerome O'Keeffe and Michael O'Keeffe. This latest work continues the history of the club from where their previous book 'From Scoubeen to the Centenary' left off.
The latter book tracing the history of the club from its foundation in 1886 to the centenary of the GAA in 1984 traces its illustrious history over the century, describing the part it has played in North Cork hurling.
Compiled by the late Pat Collins, the book has a message from the chairman of the day, Tom Morrissey and a foreword from the then parish priest. Mr. Collins had excellent assistance from the club's history committee, which comprised of, Pat Byrne, Michael (Dicko) Mortell, Bill Fleming, Michael O'Keeffe, Jerome O'Keeffe, Ned O'Donoghue, Dan Casey and Jim McDermott with photography by Michael Byrne.
