Productive second half paves way for Lyre win

LYRE conjured up a dominant second half display to end a losing sequence and collect their first points in the Ducon Cup in the aftermath of a deserved victory over Kanturk in the Ducon Cup on Sunday.
Bouncing back from two defeats, Lyre offered the better composure and that extra degree of sharpness to sway matters during the second half.
Lyre got off to a dream start from a well taken goal by Jack Roche. Thereafter scores were few and far between, Kanturk gaining prominence from the controlled efforts of Michael Twohig and Alan Sheehy with Donough Dwane adding points to secure a deadlocked situation of 11 to 0-4 at the break.
Lyre got their act together upon the resumption and emerged a stronger side from the encouraging efforts of goalkeeper Aidan Murphy, Martin Kearney, Daniel Murphy and Colm O'Riordan.
Going forward in waves allowed Rory O'Connor, Tim Murphy, Brian O'Driscoll and Ger Mannix discover the target. Kanturk found their path resolutely barred in terms of a comeback and it allowed Lyre register their first win of the season.
