Three goal Kildorrery storm past Grenagh

KILDORRERY made it two wins from two games in the Kelleher Shield Section three FL when they had five points to spare over Grenagh, at Mallow on Sunday last.
The winners gained control from the throw in and with two goals in the opening nine minutes through Michael Monaghan and Dave White gave them a decisive advantage.
The 'Hill' continued to work hard as a unit with Richard McEniry, Andrew O'Brien, Michael Walsh, Stephen Coughlan and John Howard all doing well and by the 24th minute they opened up a 2-4 to 0-3 lead. The Muskerry side lost midfielder John Russell due to a knee injury but battled hard scoring three points in quick succession through the impressive Diarmuid Dorgan (two) and Tadgh Walsh to cut the deficit to four points at the break 2-4 to 0-6. Kildorrery made a blistering start on the changeover, when good play by Eamon O'Connor set up Tom Monaghan who finished to the net from close range. There was an exchange of two points each by the 44th minute before the MidCork side gain a foothold in proceeding with Gearoid Fitzgerald, James O'Neill, Jerry Russell, Tadgh Walsh and Diarmuid Dorgan all catching the eye and by the 55th minute they outscored there opponents by four points to one, to close the gap to five points 3-8 to 0-12. The winners responded well with an excellent point from wing back Richard McEniry who kicked over a massive point. However Grenagh tried very hard to get back on level terms but only managed to score a late point through Diarmuid Dorgan.
