DROMTARRIFFE GOLF SOCIETY AGM: Dromtariffe Golf Society will hold its 10th annual general meeting in the Fairfield Room Dromagh Community Hall on Friday night February 10 at 8.30pm sharp.

Mitchelstown Golf Club were successful in the All Ireland final National Junior Cup at Castlerock Co Derry on Thursday, September 15.
Kanturk seal Pierce Purcell crown
KANTURK are the West Munster Pierce Purcell champions following victory over Tralee in the final at a very blustery O'Mahony's Point course in Killarney on Thursday evening last and the Cork side now qualify for the Munster semi-finals at Limerick Golf Club on July 17 where they will play Woodstock from Clare, while Ballykisteen will take on Frankfield in the other semi-final.

ASIDE from the Masters at Augusta and The Open, The Week in Sport doesn't pay a whole pile of attention to golf. At the risk of earning the ire of golfers everywhere, it's just a little too stuffy and elitest and, despite the huge numbers of people who follow it religiously on television, a little dull to watch (granted anybody can think that about any other sport).
330 vie for president's prize
A TOTAL of 330 golfers teed off in the 2010 Presidents' (Mike Laffan) Prize Competition at Charleville Golf Club last weekend. The event was played over Friday, Saturday and Sunday in glorious weather and over a magnificently prepared course.
Charity side to golfing weekend
IT'S not just the local economy that's set to benefit from this week's 3 Irish Open - the tournament's chosen charity, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, is the benefactor of two initiatives being held during the event to continue funding the charity's bighearted gestures.
