Peter gets his wish to play a round with his hero Harrington
GOLF fan Peter McEnery, a 14-yearold from Killarney, who lives with cystic fibrosis, is to get his ultimate wish granted at the 3 Irish Open in Killarney.
The teenger's wish is being granted in three stages by the tournament's chosen charity, the Make-AWish Foundation. Peter was presented with a dream set of golf clubs last week. A number of top golf brands including Nike and Titleist have supplied their finest equipment to Peter, giving him a set to rival those belonging to any of his golfing heroes.
And it's just as well as Peter will be well equipped as the second part of Peter's wish — to play golf with Pádraig Harrington — is coming true on Wednesday. Peter will play as a special member of Pádraig's ProAm Team in the 3 Irish Open Pro-Am on the Killeen Course.
Pádraig, who is a Make-A-Wish Ireland Ambassador and a huge supporter of the charity, was delighted to grant Peter's wish. He said: "I'm looking forward to playing golf with Peter and making his wish come true. I am sure we'll have a lot of fun."
The three-time Major Champion will also present Peter with Kartel golf gear, which has been branded in the style of a Tour Professional to wear on his special day. The third and final part of Peter's Wish will be granted in Killarney later this week.
