Catterick win for Mallow jockey Lenihan
CONDITIONAL claiming jockey Eddie Lenihan, from Glantane, Mallow, scored a splendid win at Catterick races on Wednesday, on 6/1 chance Carmela Maria, for East Yorkshire trainer Mike Sowersby, in the 3ml handicap hurdle.
Racing wide for the better ground from early on, he began to make eye catching progress at the fifth, traveling well he went second two out, and went to the front before the last, where despite a mistake, was quickly back on an even keel by Eddie, and quickened clear, to win impressively by seven lengths.
This was the talented 18-year old's eighth win since, he went to England, exactly 12 months ago this week.
Recently he has made what appears to be a master move, as he has joined the powerful Nicky Henderson stables, as a conditional rider. And no doubt he talent will not go unnoticed there, where he will be given maximum opportunities, which he richly deserves.
