McLernon stars at Devon and Exeter
Thursday March 11 2010
CHURCHTOWN, Mallow conditional rider Richard McLernon, who is making a huge impression, in his second full season in England, where he is stable conditional, to the powerful John Joe O'Neill stable, was seen at his brilliant best, at Devon and Exeter races on Tuesday last, on Teaming Rain, which was a game winner, of the featured £20,000 3m 6f national handicap chase, for owner JP McManus.
Patiently ridden, he made steady ground 4 out, went second going well two out, was produced to challenge at the last, and under a powerful drive from the saddle, stayed on well, for a well merited win, from Present My Lord. The winner, which had not won for 12 months, won the corresponding race last year, with the second home, also in the same position last year.
