Paul Townend wins featured Istabraaq hurdle at Leopardstown
LISGOOLD champion jockey Paul Townend excelled on Unaccompanied to create a mild surprise and win the featured Grade 1 Istabraaq hurdle at Leopardstown recently for trainer Dermot Weld.
Townend began to make smooth headway to go third two out. Challenging early in the straight, he went to the front before the last, and kept on well to hold the hot favourite, Thousand Stars, by a length and a half.
The high class 4-year old must now be considered a Champion Hurdle contender.
