ON Wednesday evening Mallow apprentice Eddie Lenihan, who is apprentice to trainer Willie Mullins, scored the fifth win of his most promising career, where he was seen to distinct advantage, on Phantosy Rock, which he produced with precision timing, inside the final furlong, to win well from Master of Light. TRAINER Eugene O'Sullivan from Lombardstown Mallow, landed a well executed touch, with his high class Head Waiter 16/1 to 11/2 joint favourite, in the featured € 30,000 Grade C handicap chase ove 2m 4f, under a splendid front running drive, by jockey Andrew Thornton. who made most of the running, eventually winning by 8 lengths, from Decoy Daddy.
O'Sullivan was delighted as he explained to The Corkman, "he loves this place, hes nearly a stone better here than anywhere else, and that's his third win here, he is owned by my neighbour Bob Healy who I am delighted for, I expect that all going well, he will go to Listowel for a 2ml 3f handicap chase on the opening day of the meeting." UPTON jockey Wayne Lordan, was also on the score sheet at Killarney, where he landed Cambina the game half length winner, of the 20000e 1ml nursery, for trainer Tommy Stack.
On Friday at York Lordan sprang the shock of the year, in the richly endowed Nunthorpe stakes, on 100/1 chance Sole Power, for Dunshaughlin, Co Meath trainer Eddie Lynham, and owner, well-known rails bookmaker, David Power.
