The Buck scores for John Murphy at Wexford

Thursday September 02 2010

UPTON Bandon trainer John Joe Murphy, continues to enjoy a real purple patch, with his runners, and added to his tremendous recent winning run, at Wexford races on Friday evening, where he sent out The Buck 10/1 to 13/2, to win a thrilling 2ml handicap, under a polished drive, from Sam James who is attached to Kevin Prendergast's stable.

Well placed from the outset on this tight circuit, he began to make significant headway at halfway, and went to the front four out, he was engaged in a terrific tussle, with the favourite King of Redfield, in the final two furlongs, but kept on well to win by a neck.

George Murphy representing his father reflected: "Sam gave him a great ride, he is a real stayer as he proved here this evening, he ran very well over hurdles at Killarney recently, and we will probably go hurdling with him over the winter."
