MEELIN hurler Brendan O'sullivan scooped the prestigious overall accolade at a gala ceremony to the inaugural City and County Youth Sports Star of the Year Awards hosted in the Gresham Metropole Hotel, Cork on Saturday night last.

February 2011: Charleville CBS Harty Cup team
THE deserved winners of the February 2011 sports award was Charleville CBS' Harty cup team. The boys from the north Cork school raised the bar when it comes to school hurling sides as they put in a heroic effort in last year's Harty Cup hurling competition – making the final for the first time in 73 years. (1938).
JANUARY: Doneraile Junior B Hurling team
It seems like a long time ago now, but last January Doneraile's Junior B Hurlers were taking the grade by storm – winning the county and then the Munster crown. Their adventures for over a year kept their fans on the edge of their seats.
December 2011: Charleville Hurling team
In the face of adversity both on and off the pitch Charleville hurlers have proved to be one of the great success stories of 2011. After winning both the North Cork and county titles in one day, they then went on to win a Munster to make last year their best ever on a sporting field.
Charleville odd on for place in Croker Final
VICTORY over Cappamore of Limerick in the Munster club junior hurling championship final last month brought the curtain down on a momentous year for Charleville. It yielded three major trophies in all (the Avondhu, county and provincial titles), and they are now hoping to continue on their winning way when they set out on the trail of All-ireland glory next Sunday.
A season to remember for Duhallow
2011 became a happy hunting ground for Duhallow clubs on securing the laurels of outright victory at county and All Ireland level. Though the year began with freezing conditions, there was no stopping the unprecedented success on the gaelic fields in a year of vivid memories for clubs and supporters.

MUNSTER GAA Colleges held their meeting on Saturday last in the Hibernian Hotel Mallow where draws were made for the knockout stages of the four major competitions.
Croke Rovers to face Ballinora in county final
CROKE ROVERS: Croke Rovers had mixed fortunes over the weekend, on Sunday last our hurlers completed the double in hurling over Dromtariffe when they recorded a 2-9 to 1-8 win in a very well contested league final which was played in Mallow, both sets of players gave a great display of hurling Croke Rovers edging it in a close finish. Captain of the team Terry Cantillon accepted the cup on his teams behalf.
