MILLSTREET staged a comeback to better St. Fanahan's 0-9 to 1-4 in an exciting County Junior 13-a-side camogie final hosted in Castle Road.
The Millstreet representatives showcased their undoubted character and resilience to overturn a five-point interval deficit into a well deserved win. Millstreet's response was altogether more constructive as they rattled into a game Mitchelstown side with a courageous mix of flair and power.
Millstreet offered master conviction and seven points without reply in the second half sealed the win. A breeze-assisted St. Fanahan's dominated the opening spell to enjoy a 1-4 to 0-2 at the break.
Muireann Murphy obliged either side of the interval though wasteful shooting and a number of wides dented Millstreet's prospects. However, Millstreet's play grew in confidence from the positive efforts of Aideen Buckley, Kelly Murphy, Kayleigh Sheahan and Alanna Barry.
The momentum gathered from points to Kelly Murphy, Alanna Barry and Kayleigh Sheahan helped level matters. From here to the finish Millstreet were surperb and applied late pressureto lead after points from Alanna Barry and then captain Deirdre Looney crowning outright glory.
Well done to both sides on serving up a cracker and congratulations to a Millstreet team that fielded as Ellmarie Cronin; Ber Murphy, Anna Jean O'reilly; Eimear Twomey, Kelly Murphy, Aideen Buckley; Kayleigh Sheahan, Alanna Barry; Elaine Collins, Muireann Murphy, Aine Herlihy; Deidre Looney, Aoife Fraser.
