Mitchelstown CBS 4 -9 St Aidan's Cork 2 -7
MITCHELSTOWN CBS had an 8 point win over St Aidan's Cork in the Cork Colleges Senior C HC semi final at Ballygiblin on Wednesday last. Aidan's got the perfect start with an early goal by Fintan Falvey. CBS rallied well and pointed frees by James Magnier had them back in contention.
However Aidan's pulled away with a string points by impressive midfielder Eoin Connolly and by the 19th minute they had opened up a commanding lead 15 to 0-2. CBS tightented up considerably in the half backline and they struck for three goals and some well taken points before the break, the goals by Padraigh Gallaghue (2) and Luke Hanna that helped them to an interval lead 3-6 to 1-5.
CBS dominated the second half they gained supremecy at midfield and closed down any real threat from the Aidan's attack. Connolly had a goal from a free and their only other two points of this half came from a free and a sideline. CBS had a fourth goal, by their best forward James Magnier in the 5lst minute that opened up a lead 4-9 to 2-6. CBS will now face North Mon in the final.
