Slick Lismire far too strong for score-shy Millstreet
DUHALLOW JUNIOR B HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP
A SLICKER Lismire carried too much craft and sharpness for a wasteful Millstreet in the opening round to the Duhallow Junior B Hurling Championship in Lismire last Friday.
Millstreet scored early and late yet in between, Lismire put together a calm and crisp methodology about everything they did to emerge the more accomplished side. The visitors enjoyed a lucrative start, Darren Sheehan netting a fourth minute goal.
Lismire managed to find their footing with Richard Kiely and Brian O'Callaghan on target. Millstreet
held their own from the pursuits of John Moylan, Kieran Sheehan and John O'Sullivan. However, Millstreet were unable to translate a spell of superiority onto the scoreboard through a series of missed chances.
A more economical Lismire replied on points to John O'Callaghan and Cathal Noonan to enjoy a 05 to 1-0 grip at the break. And Lismire resumed in a positive mode with Paddy Sheahan, Stephen Kiely, Tim O'Callaghan, Brian O'Callaghan and Cathal Noonan to the fore.
Operating with considerable more flair, fluency and confidence, John O'Callaghan displayed unerring accuracy from play and placed balls. Millstreet attempted a rally yet they were repelled by outstanding Lismire 'keeper Tim O'Neill. While Millstreet were lacking up front, Lismire were prepared to shoot from different angles, confirmed from points to Padraig Denn, John O'Callaghan and Noonan.
