Liscarroll AC set to get open sports day up and running

LISCARROLL AC boosts one of the most progressive athletic clubs in the country and they stage their 20th annual open sports meeting on Sunday, August 8 with proceedings underway on the grounds of Liscaroll GAA at 1pm.

From humble beginnings, the flourishing North Cork club is noted for its successes from county to All Ireland level over recent years with its annual sports meeting now the largest crowd pulling event within the province.

"If the number of phone calls received and the number of requests for programmes is anything to go by, they should be a large attendance", said club PRO, Tim Fitzpatrick.

All the old favourites return in a mammoth programme to satisfy the interests of clubs drawn from throughout Munster and beyond.

The diverse itinerary includes races for boys and girls from under 5 to u19 years of age in addition to senior and master categories entailing sprints, middle distances and field events together with confined and open relays.

An action packed line up of events get underway at 1pm with the sprint categories for boys and girls.

Perpetual Trophies on offer include Best Overall Juvenile, Visiting Club sponsored by Liscarroll AC, Best Juvenile Male, Best Female Athlete and the Bridget Madden Perpetual Trophy honours a loyal club founder goes to the Best host club athlete.
