RATHCOOLE recorded their hightest ever winning margin away from home on Sunday morning last against a lacklustre Rylane Celtic in League 1A at Glounaglough. The visitors were ahead within 10 minutes when Tadgh Browne broke free from the defence to slide the ball past the out running Rylane keeper.
Minutes later, Noel Riordan was played through on goal and made it 2-0 with a neat finish. Shortly after this Noel Riordan went past two defenders in the penalty box before being brought down for a penalty. Tadgh Browne converted to make it 3-0 within 15 minutes.
With the Rylane defence in disarray, further through balls from Eoin Dennehy, Vincent Browne and Tim Cleary all lead to Noel Riordan and Tadgh browne breaking the offside trap and getting a further three goals between them. At half time both Noel and Tadgh had a hattrick each.
The second half saw more of the same pressure and when Tim Cleary swung a cross into the box Tadgh Browne was there to take his fourth goal. He was not to be denied a fifth with a fine strike from outside the box to make it 8-0.
Substitute David Carroll came on for Noel Riordan and he made it 9-0 with a few minutes remaining. Rylane did have a few chances in the second half but were unable to convert and will feel the worse for wear after this result.
